2002 Temperature Animation --
North Santiam and Santiam River Model

If the movie does not play in this window, download it [AVI, 4.8 Mb] and view it with a separate movie player. If you don't have a movie player that allows fine control over frame advancement and reverse, you might consider obtaining one. For the Mac and Windows environments, try the free QuickTime viewer from Apple. For Unix systems, try the free xanim viewer.

Animation of 2002 Modeled Water Temperature

This animation shows modeled water temperatures for the North Santiam and Santiam Rivers, from Detroit Dam (on right edge of animation) to the confluence of the Santiam River with the Willamette River (left edge). Tributaries, from upstream to downstream, include Rock Creek, the Little North Santiam River and the South Santiam River.

The date and Julian day (day of year) are shown, and a rising/setting sun is drawn to help visualize daily temperature cycles. River width is scaled proportionately to streamflow to show storm events; the width is exaggerated and does not represent the river's actual width. During summer, streamflow decreases slightly in the lower North Santiam due to withdrawals in that reach.
