Figure 1: Map showing the approximate extent of the volcanic aquifers of the Northwest (red outline). The volcanic aquifers (current study area delineated by blue outline) cover most of the Pacific Northwest basaltic-rock aquifers (as shown by Reilly and others [2008]) and are surrounded by areas where the groundwater systems have been extensively studied.
